About The Terran

The Terran is a news and analysis outlet built around one conviction: that Europe's decline, in sovereignty, in prosperity, in confidence, is the defining story of this generation, and that it deserves to be covered seriously rather than shouted about.

We publish long-form video essays on YouTube, written editions of those essays here, and Terran Weekly, a free weekly newsletter.

Where we stand

We do not pretend to be neutral, and we would rather state our positions than smuggle them.

• We are for legal immigration set by national need, and against illegal entry. The distinction matters, and collapsing it serves nobody.
• Our criticism is aimed at institutions, the treaties, courts, commissions and governments that make decisions no one voted for, not at the people who move under the rules those institutions set.
• We are close to absolutists on free speech, and against blanket surveillance in all its forms.
• We believe the cost of energy, the scarcity of housing and the disappearance of secure work are where policy failure is actually felt, and we cover them that way.

How we work

Our essays are built on public numbers, statutes, votes and named decisions, and we show our sources on screen and in text. When we get something wrong, we correct the page and say that we corrected it.

Comments on articles are unmoderated reader views, filtered automatically for abuse. They do not represent The Terran.

Why there are no names here

The Terran publishes under a house byline. That is a deliberate choice, not a mystery to be solved. The people who make this outlet stay out of the story so that the story can be judged on its evidence. The argument stands or falls on its sources, not on who typed it.
